I'm dizzy...

from all of this spinning...

spun_gathering

Wow, I had a passionate tryst with my spinning wheel yesterday and spun two different Pigeonroof Studio rovings. (OMG I am so far down the rabbit hole.) Then I washed and blocked two other skeins of handspun - I'm seriously thinking I could actually cast on and make...something? I'm thinking my three year old could use a funky hat! Suggestions welcome.

I cannot wait to wash the PR (see the wonkiness of the one on the right?) - it made all of the difference to soak it, the yarn blooms and the drape is delightful. I love having yarn hanging in my shower - Good Morning! (Thank you Kris for warning me not to weight it!:)

**If you are considering spinning, as a complete greenhorn I have found Krista at Pigeonroof Studios to be an absolute pleasure to work with - she doesn't take custom orders but she will honor a "wish list" - for the record, several of my "wishes" have been granted. Her roving is so soft and squishy plus she is so kind. I almost hesitate to mention my PR love because I hate to give up my source - hee hee!**

And because I mostly knit, I swatched some Madtosh for the Ingenue (did you see Plucky's?) and the gauge is waaay off, the Madtosh seems to be a very light worsted in my opinion, so maybe another February Ladies Sweater for now? Such decisions. The last FLS might have given me a case of carpal tunnel - hmmm, is God telling me I should be a sock knitter? Meanwhile, Morticia - I swear my Shetland Triangle is growing!

OMG you spin so nicely! I'm thinking that Neopolitan looking skein on the left would look good as a gnome beanie, great for kids!

They are all beautiful! I love Pigeonroof Studios too. As a matter of fact, I just snagged one of her rovings tonight. Whee!

I really like the Zeebee Hat (Ravlink) for handspun. It's a very flexible pattern that adjusts for any gauge.

Those are some amazing skeins. I especially like the one in the middle. I can definitely see an adorable jester out of one of them. So cute!

I have also found Krista to be very nice and accomodating when I begged her for some yarn I just had.to.have!

Sooo pretty!

Oh and I got exact gauge with Cascade 220 Superwash. Same gauge as I got with the FLS I frogged. 4.5 sts/inch.
You might want to try that out and save your MadToshhhhhh for something else. :)

You are a complete natural, look how even and nice that yarn is. Amazing. Ahem...there is a secret about not weighting? Do I have to learn EVERYTHING on the streets? Care to share? :-)

This ia precisely why I'm not pulling the spinning wheel out of my attic - I would be totally like you (although probably not nearly as talented). I am trying to finish some of the knitting I've started before casting on new projects, but the pull is so insane!
You have got to knit a hat with the handspun! It's simply loverly!

That's just exciting. You catch on to things so quickly, you are lucky that way. Your handspun is beautiful, Stacey.

wow..so gorgeous! let me know if you ever need someone to knit up some of your handspun -- you know -- to give you an unbiased opinion of how it knits...that center skein in the autumn colors looks like it needs a test; *wink wink*

seriously though, beautiful!!!

Who am I to tell you to get on with your first lace project? I would never. My first lace project took forever!

If you're down the rabbit hole spinning, my advice is to stay there because the exhilaration is priceless, and priceless in this day and age is hard to come by. Yummy yummy yarns! Great job.
