Socktober drag

I started the Fantastic Welts pattern in Sensational Socks with my beloved Grape Ape last night - can I just say - yuck, it just isn't working. I am so sad, I hate to waste perfectly good knitting time - but I I think I will rip it out and make another pair Jaywalkers - because that is surely going to be a winner...(winner, winner chicken dinner?) I would like to thoughts on patterns condusive to self-striping yarn - I am feeling verklempt.

But I shall join the Socktober ranks as I cast on a Jaywalker tonight during Grey's Anatomy - Seriously...
