The fact that "junky" rhymes with "munki" is not just a happy accident

Good grief. I take a break from blogging to stalk hard to find, out of print fabrics. Wow, that's such a good use of my time. hee. I'm a junky. I admit it - when I get into a hobby, I truly get into it, big time, both feet, whole heart. Now, that is not all bad, but excessive late night internet surfing - that's bad.

I'm blaming Jessie. Yes, yarntini, you heard me. It is all your fault that I want more of these funky prints. Okay, notsomuch. Seriously, she is such a good cyber friend. She sent me pieces of her own fabric finds and skeins of her crazy pretty yarn - she is one of the many people I am blessed to know who routinely reaffirm my faith in plain old human kindness. Because in this crazy world, there just isn't enough kindness "without strings". I have truly found that through blogland time and again. Strangers essentially willing to share goodies and advice, tutorials, prizes and inspiration. You guys are awesome. I am one step from saying "I love you, man".

I have decided it is time to return to my blog - I actually have missed sharing things the past few weeks - I know, really. I think I have decided to adopt the "blogging without obligation" phenom that is going around. I mean, why does anyone feel guilty they have not blogged? Especially when blogland is so generous, forgiving and awesome - who are we to apologize for letting life get in the way, right?

So what have I been up to? I am a binding away from finishing a twin size quilt for my little one. The fabrics are Heather Ross's Mendocino line - and it makes my heart skip a beat to imagine putting this on a 4-year-old's bed - but I truly do want it to be loved. And what is not to love about whimsical sealife and mermaids? She is worth it. This zigzag quilt was created through the gracious tutelage of Amy, she is the current moderator of the Old Red Barn Co. Quiltalong group at flickr. Next up are wonky log cabins. It has been so inspiring to me, I need to ask you to join if you have a mountain of fabric to scale.

I've also finished the dreaded Mara. I love this finished object - but the miles of garter-ville was like a trip to the dentist. It is so practical and snuggly though, so I am going to forget the tediousness of it all *wink*

So barring laziness, or fabric stalking, I really mean to have a giveaway to celebrate my now passed 3-year-blogiversary. There have been so many cool giveaways going on, I really need to pay something forward soon. Take care!

Great zigzag quilt! I guess I should have stuck around on the Old Red Barn quilt along flickr group for some more fun. I am going to check out that knit of yours. Looks like some good tv watching knitting.

Welcome back! I think no obligation blogging is great-- it's the only way I could handle doing it this summer.

I'm not at all surprised that you're stalking fabrics now, given the way you stalk yarn! :) I'm sure you'll have some great finds.

The quilt and the shawl are lovely!
