birth.day :: happy

Block 7
another happy block to celebrate!

I had the day off today to celebrate my birthday. People keep saying it's the "last in my thirties" - at 39 - makes me feel like I should go into hiding next year. Why do people associate 40 with black anyways? It's just a number, right?

Anyways, I love birthdays - and my own is no exception. For me it means a day off. I take the day off of work every year because it seems an apt gift to give myself. My husband and I went to lunch and then saw Iron Man II. Pretty low key, but it's not really about high expectations, it about relaxing and reflecting - plus there was car knitting.

But the day is almost over - ack! I hate to see it come to an end. I am hoping to bind my "happy quilt" tonight so I can take it to work tomorrow to use it as a shroud over the piles. I hope you did something happy today too!

Happy happy! I turn 30 this summer and I'm excited, I don't get the big deal about ages either, everyone gets older! Glad you had a great day!

Happy Birthday! So happy to hear that your husband is doing better and that you had a nice birthday together. 39 is awesome, as is 40 and all the rest. Enjoy!

Happy Birthday! Forty is a great age. Fifty, which I turned in 09, freaked me out a little, but it was fine once I got there!

I think that sounds like a nice birthday. Low key with the hubby sounds perfect to me. I am glad it was good, sorry it didn't last longer. I can't wait to see your quilt-as-you-go quilt all finished. I love how you fussy cut the centers.

Happy belated birthday!! It sounds like it was nice one...and I am in love with those spatulas! I keep hearing that 40 is the new 30, so you've got another 11 years before you go into hiding. :) (Actually, I have no idea what the big deal with age is either. In college, I worked in an office with four women, each in a different decade of life from 20 to 50. Each swore hers was the best decade to be in, that things only got better in each one. I thought that was pretty cool and it has given me a lot of confidence when I start worrying about the future.)

Happy Birthday, belated though! I turned 39 this May too.....guess we'll commiserate on the big 40 next year. I don't feel 39, let alone 40!
Glad to hear hubby is doing well.
And, yes, those yarns and socks are lovely!

It's a great gift to give yourself the day of work. Forty is just a number and life is always what you make it.

Happy Birthday!! BTW, what pattern are those washcloths? I have both of the Mason-Dixon books and I don't remember that one? Love the quilt too!

Happy birthay, and 40 is not a big deal - really!
Love your dishcloths -- my favorite car knitting too.
Blessings,
